With a mission to acknowledge and celebrate its students, staff, and alumni’s exceptional achievements, the University of Aberdeen has been providing Excellence Scholarships annually. These grants, which value up to £5,000, significantly reduce the tuition fees and are available to all international applicants outside the UK/EU intending to commence their studies for the 2023 academic year.
These scholarships can be availed by students who have received an admission offer for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate program, beginning in September 2023 or January 2023. The financial aid strictly covers the tuition fees payable to the University, not exceeding £5,000. Students pursuing one-year Masters degrees may receive a maximum of £4,500 unless they plan to extend their education for an additional year at Aberdeen.
Making Your Mark with the Excellence Scholarship
The Excellence Scholarship is a competitive award, with final decisions being made post students’ offers. To secure this scholarship, students must have secured at least AAB at A level (or its equivalent) before beginning their course at Aberdeen, excluding those already residing in Scotland. Furthermore, all English language requirements must be met according to the current regulations.
Am I Eligible?
To qualify for the Excellence Scholarship, you need to:
- Be a new international student set to commence studies in the 2023-2023 academic year.
- Secure a spot in your preferred study program at the University of Aberdeen, including our partner colleges, by January 2023 and accept this offer.
- Fulfill all visa prerequisites for entry into the UK – you’ll be contacted if more information or documentation is needed.
- Be an international student from outside the UK/EU or have resided in Scotland for less than five years before application. This exclusion does not apply if you apply through one of the partner colleges in Dundee or St Andrew.
What are the Terms and Conditions?
The Excellence Scholarship extends over one academic year and exclusively covers tuition fees payable to the University. However, it doesn’t include fees exceeding £5,000 per year for a full-time student or £3,000 per annum for a part-time student. The scholarships strictly serve to fund tuition fees and cannot be paid as cash or allocated towards living expenses.
Choosing the Excellence Scholars
The scholarship recipients are chosen by a committee of senior staff from the University. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview conducted via Skype. Scholars are granted the award for two years, extendable for another year if the degree is not completed by the end of the third year.
